It's so good to see a Japanese posting http://www.pianohihyou.com/nobuyuki-tsujii expressing some of the same concerns as I did in a previous article, about Nobu's presence outside Japan. The English translation below is mine, with help from online language translators. My apologies for inaccuracies.

Last night I saw a video of Nobuyuki Tsujii playing Rachmaninoff in a concert with the Basel Symphony Orchestra. Stunning performance. I am happy that he has been performing in Europe.
ピアニストに仕事が来るにはいくつか方法、ルートがあるのだけれども、それにしても、日本人含めアジア人が欧米で大きな仕事を得るのは簡単ではない。
There is a method for work to come to a pianist. Although there seems to be a way, it is not easy for a Japanese or any Asian to get prominent work in Europe and America.
もともとクラシック音楽はヨーロッパが発祥の地。演奏家は当然ヨーロッパにたくさんいるし、アジア人が出演機会を得るハードルは、必然的に高くなるというのが実際である。ヨーロッパ人とアジア人で、仮におなじぐらいの力量のピアニストが2人目の前にいたとして、どちらが選ばれるかというと、残念ながらアジア人よりもヨーロッパ人が先に選ばれるだろう。
Europe is the birthplace of classical music. And naturally there are plenty of musicians in Europe. The hurdle for an Asian to get performance opportunities is actually and inevitably higher. If two pianists of the same competence, one European and the other Asian, are to be selected, unfortunately the European will be chosen before the Asian.
アジア人は彼らよりもずっと上手くないといけない。あるいは、単なる技量の他に、人を惹きつける何か特別なものを持っていなければならない。これはつらいハードルだが、やりがいのあるハードルであるとも言える。
Asians must be better; and in addition to mere workmanship, there must be something special to attract people. It's a tough hurdle, but I say a worthwhile hurdle.
辻井伸行には、ぜひ、ヨーロッパでも大活躍し、一流の音楽家から忌憚のないアドヴァイスなどを受けながら、もっともっと上手くなって行って欲しい。 むしろまだまだ上手くなれるはずである（間違えないようにと鍵盤を慎重に押さえて行くからか、滑らかに美しく旋律を歌わせられていない。「人間が声を出し て歌っているかのように」演奏出来ていない。これは欠点。演奏がやや平板でドラマティックさに欠けて聞こえる）。もたもたしていると、どんどん若い素晴ら しい次世代のピアニストが育ってくるので、生き残れない。 若手におしのけられない、存在感を持ったピアニストになって欲しい
By all means, I want Mr. Tsujii to become a big success in Europe. While he has received frank advice from leading musician, I would like to see him become even better. Perhaps because he must traverse the keyboard carefully so as not to make a mistake, the melody is not sung the most beautifully. He is not able to play as if "human beings singing aloud". This is a drawback. I hear a lack in dramatic and the playing is somewhat a flat plate. Because the splendid pianists of the next generation will develop slowly, he will survive. But in order not to be pushed aside by some young upstarts, I hope he will become a pianist with presence.
いま日本人のピアニストで、欧米で高い評価を得て第一線で活躍しているのは内田光子「ただ一人である」と言って言い過ぎではないが、この現状に新たな風を吹き込んで欲しいものである。
Currently among Japanese pianists, it is no exaggeration to say that Uchida [Mitsuko] is the "the one" foremost active pianists that has attained a high reputation in Europe and the United States. I would like to see a breath of fresh air brought to the current situation.

現在はヨーロッパの公演もIMGが入れていたりするのかもしれないが（今度リヴァプールで共演する指揮者のペトレンコもIMG所属だし。ただ、ヨー ロッパのコンサートでは”Nobu”と名前が省略されていたりすることもあるので、もしかするとヨーロッパでは別の会社が関係している・・・のかもしれな い。あくまでも推測）引き続き辻井君にも、IMGにも頑張ってほしい。
I don't know if it also handles his performances in Europe (conductor Petrenko, with whom he co-starred in Liverpool, is also an IMG artist). However, in Europe he is sometimes called "Nobu", which seems to indicate that he may be handled by some other office... In any case, I hope IMG will continue to work hard for Mr. Tsujii.

I would like to add these comments:
- Lang Lang and Yuja Wang are Asian classical pianists who have made it big in Europe and the U.S. In fact, they are arguably the biggest stars currently. However, both of them (a) hailed from newly rich Mainland China, (b) were/are trained in the U.S. and (c) promoted by Deutsche Grammophon, a European powerhouse in the classical music business.
- I believe Nobu's overseas concert performances are managed by Avex Classics in conjunction with IMG. I have written before and I continue to believe that Nobu's overseas presence is underdeveloped. Nobu has yet to perform a recital in U.K. or Italy, and since the 2013 Proms, he has not performed in London. I think the blogger in his posting is alluding to that as well and I too hope those in charge would do more to advance Nobu's performance opportunities in Europe and U.S. -- we Nobu fans are ever so grateful!
