The announcements have been coming in dribbles, but it is clear now that this coming April, Nobuyuki Tsujii will be touring Asia with New-York-based Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. Nobu has collaborated with the orchestra since 2014, performing in Japan and in the U.S. This is the first time that they travel outside those two countries.
Below is the known schedule for the tour:
April 12-13 with Orpheus Chamber Orchestra
The University of Hong Kong
Nobu will perform Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 (one performance only)
April 16 19:30 with Orpheus Chamber Orchestra
Nobu will perform Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 (one performance only)
Nobu will perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 2 and/or Ravel's Piano Concerto; violinist Fuimaki Miura will also appear at some performances
The Japan performances have been on sale for some time now, but so far only the least expensive tickets have sold out.
The Taipei performance is being promoted in earnest. Below is a YouTube video posted on December 25. (Twitter sunsoon sagely points out that it is unusual for the footage of Nobu performing Liszt's fiendish transcendental etude Mazeppa (Kioi Hall, Tokyo, 2015) to be chosen for the video.)
Tickets for the Hong Kong performance have not come on sale yet.
