I’m very pleased to go [to] this special concert in concertgebouw!! #concertgebouw#nobuyukitsujii#pianist#japanese#heart#soul#piano#story#chopin

I had not heard of this news, and at first thought this was a hoax.  But a quick search on the December schedule of ConcertGebouw confirmed it!

On this page  https://www.concertgebouw.nl/en/page/42182, under an entry on December 15, it says
"Unfortunately Nelson Freire had to cancel his concert in the Master Pianist series. Nobu Tsujii will replace him. For this special occasion he'll play an all-Chopin programme. "

Nelson Freireis the eminent Brazilian pianist who has reportedly suffered an injury from a fall in late October.   I have the utmost respect for the maestro and wish him the best.

This is the second time recently that Nobu steps in for a master pianist: On May 10 2019 he substituted for Murray Perahia  at a recital at the Carnegie Hall (I was there).

Nobu has not been called "Nobu Tsujii" in Europe for a while now.  I thought (and hope) that the practice has stopped, and hence has not been looking for his news under that name.

This performance is one in a prestigious series titled "Master Pianists series 2019-2020", of 13 recitals held on Sunday evenings.Performances started on Oct 6, featuring major pianists that include Evgeny Kissin, Grigory Sokolov,  Murray Perahia, and Nikolai Lugansky.

Wikipedia :"The Royal Concertgebouw  is a concert hall in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The Dutch term "concertgebouw" translates into English as "concert building". Because of its highly regarded acoustics, the Concertgebouw is considered one of the finest concert halls in the world, along with places such as Boston's Symphony Hall] and the Musikverein in Vienna."

Nobuyuki Tsujii typically takes a rest in December, before New Year Day, the most important public holiday of the year in Japan and I believe to prepare for his new recital program each year. This December, he is on schedule to perform a couple of Piano and Arts Concerts in Japan, and, on Dec 7, a performance of Tchai 1 with Valery Gergiev at the Tokyo Tchaikovsky Festival.  This Dec 15 performance in Amsterdam will come before Nobu's Scriabin-Schubert-Chopin recitals in Japan, starting Jan. 8.

I will do some more looking for details.  Stay tuned.
