This,  is what I have been looking forward to!

A new episode of the excellent Nobuyuki Tsujii World Travel Series  will be aired on BS-Fuji TV (Premium channel of Japan's Fuji-TV) on March 22, in 4K definition.  This is the first fresh episode since the 2018 airing of an outstanding episode of Nobu in Iceland, and this time it is about Germany, including footage from Hamburg in October, where Nobu performed in the Elbphilharmonie, and I was there -- twice!
To say I am looking forward to this show is an understatement.

Amid the ongoing threat of CORVID 19 virus -- concern for which has caused the closing Japan's state schools for the entire month of March --  this show may provide some welcome relief to Nobu's legion of fans in Japan.

For those of us outside Japan, this show can be watched, at a modest one-time fee, online.  Please see Nobuyuki Tsujii Japan TV Specials -- how you can watch them online

Program Official Site

The ninth installment of Nobuyuki Tsujii's series of world music travels is on Germany. In the home of classical music, Tsujii challenges his first performance of a concerto by Franz Liszt. Can he attract the audience with transcendent techniques?

It has been 10 years since his first prize at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. He was 23 at the start of this series, but is now 31. What are his thoughts as a pianist while playing? And what has been his growth over the last decade? What kind of musician does he want to be in the future? We explore Tsujii's true goals.

2020 is the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven's birth. Beethoven was born in 1770 in Bonn. Tsujii travels to places related to Beethoven, including his birthplace and the church where he was employed in his youth. There, you'll learn about the childhood of working as a court organist and feeding a family, and Beethoven as a passionate and loving man. Tsujii traveled to a place where a genius composer was born and grew up, and he chose a Beethoven work for the concert's encore.

And this is the first time in the series! A woman resident in Germany as a guide for Tsujii. At an open market in the square, he enjoys the unique German food culture. Also, he learns that in order to make the ideal sandwich each one starts with bread selection at the bakery, and at the sausage shop, tasting several kinds of dishes and making original sandwiches. What is the taste?

He also visits a factor of Tsujii's beloved Steinway piano. We will tour the process until the piano is completed. Tsujii, who learned the feelings of a German craftsman in the piano, began to express his belief in the piano. A pianist playing with a piano maker ... What is the surprising common point that emerged from the exchange between these professionals?

Spending time with a woman reveals Tsujii's real face as a young man who could not be seen on previous trips! And goodbye. The appreciation of an original composition by Tsujii to express his gratitude…at her parting with the encounter of Nobuyuki Tsujii. The trip to Germany, the home of classics, was a journey that can only be experienced by Tsujii, now at the age of 31.
