This post contains an interesting line: "Nobu has gone on to become a composer and much sought-after guest pianist, with a legion of fellow concert pianists as admirers." I have never seen mentioning of the fellow concert pianists as admirers before -- I believe so, and glad to see it in print!

"Tonight’s guest artist, Japanese pianist Nobu (Nobuyuki Tsujii), first found himself at a keyboard at the age of 2 picking out a tune he heard his mother hum. Nobu has gone on to become a composer and much sought-after guest pianist, with a legion of fellow concert pianists as admirers. Blind from birth, Nobu learns each piece strictly by ear, and of his performances, iconic pianist Van Cliburn once said “…he was absolutely miraculous. His performance had the power of a healing service. It was truly divine.” Tonight, Nobu performs Rachmaninoff’s glorious and immensely moving Piano Concerto No. 2.

BACK STORY
Nobuyuki Tsujii made his Canada debut in April 2011, where he performed Rachmaninoff's piano concerto no. 2 with conductor Jean-Marie Zeitouni and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.
In winter 2013, Nobu performed in subzero winter weather in Winnipeg, playing Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (WSO) and conductor Alexander Mickelthwate. In his concert report, Nobu wrote: "外は寒かったけれどもお客様からは熱烈な喝采を頂きました。"[Although it was cold outside, we received enthusiastic applause from the customers.]
Months later, Nobu held a recital at the invitation of the University of British Columbia on March 10 year 2013 in Vancouver.

In 2015, Nobu returned to Canada, holding a recital in Edmonton and returned to Winnipeg in May to perform a recital as well as with the orchestra

Nobu even appeared as a guest on Manitoba Radio station.

That 2015 visit was the last time that Nobu performed in Canada. I hope he will receive a warm welcome in Ottawa next month!
