It has been long known that Nobyuki Tsujii is scheduled to perform with New-York based Orpheus Chamber Orchestra this April (April 29 to be exact) -- it was one of the first overseas concerts announced for Nobu since the onset of the pandemic.
As the performance date (April 29) comes closer, word came today from "Broadway World" that a show may have been added for nearby New Jersey on April 28, at the Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museusm. The date and location sound right, but the concert is currently not listed on the orchestra's own schedule page. So, it is TO BE CONFIRMED.
I imagine the program will be the same as for the Carnegie. (Nobu will perform Chopin's Piano Concerto no. 1)
Nobu and the Orpheus have a long-standing relationship. They have performed together frequently in the past, both in Japan and in the U.S. (including a memorable performance in Central Park in 2016 - video below) I am happy that they have kept up their friendship and I hope the new show in New Jersey will be confirmed. Personally, I am not ready to travel across the continent yet to show support, but my heart will be with them all the way! (I will see Nobu on April 25 in Seattle instead.)
